Councilmember Dancy holding neighborhood meeting for Jackson's Second Ward

Ward 2- Councilmember Freddie Dancy

With decreasing COVID-19 cases and the lifting of statewide restrictions, Jackson is moving back to in-person neighborhood meetings. City Councilmember Freddie Dancy is holding a neighborhood meeting for Jackson’s Second Ward at the Boos Recreation Center on Wednesday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m. This is an in-person meeting and will not take place in any virtual format.

Councilmember Dancy organized the meeting for residents to learn about housing stability programs the United Way is proposing in the former Ethnos 360 property on E. Michigan Avenue. Ken Toll of the United Way of Jackson County will give a presentation on how his organization is proposing to use the building for housing programs. Mayor Derek Dobies will also attend the meeting to talk about the City’s involvement in the programs.

“With a lot of talk happening in the neighborhood about what the United Way plans on doing in the building, I thought it would be good for residents to get information straight from the source so they know what’s going on and can ask questions,” Councilmember Dancy said.

The Boos Recreation Center is located in Loomis Park at 210 Gilbert St. All Jackson residents are welcome to attend. Jackson City Council and board/commission meetings are still being held virtually until further notice.
